PRESS RELEASE from the Chester Observances Committee
Chester will host its annual community Memorial Day observance on Monday, May 28 at 11 a.m. at the Maysey Memorial on Main Street in front of the Firehouse. The ceremony will feature the Pledge of Allegiance led by local Scouts, a few speeches (no such thing as too few), patriotic music, a rifle salute and wreath-laying, and conclude with the playing of "Taps." The ceremony will be preceded by a line of march from the Gazebo, where participants should gather around 10:30. All community organizations are invited to participate in the march. Organizations young and old should contact Jacki Spinelli (908-879-2548) or Donna Verbaro (908-879-8085) to register and for further information. The public is welcome to the ceremony honoring our fallen soldiers. Never forget that we are the land of the free because of the brave.
